- pH control where an organic acid is required and mineral acid anions are not wanted

Handling
“Glacial” refers to its freezing point — it solidifies below about 16.6 °C (62 °F). A drum stored in an unheated space in winter may arrive or become solid. That is normal and it can be re-liquefied with gentle warming, but plan storage accordingly.
It is combustible, with a flash point around 39 °C (103 °F). Treat it as both a corrosive and a flammable liquid — many people handle only the first hazard and are surprised by the second.
Use 316 stainless, glass, or appropriate plastics. Vapour is irritating and the odour is detectable far below hazardous concentrations, so a strong smell is not necessarily an emergency — but it does mean check the ventilation.
