Bead-form caustic soda at 99% minimum assay. Beads dissolve faster and dust less than flake, which is why most operations that still buy dry caustic buy beads.

- Batch make-up of cleaning solutions where liquid bulk storage is not justified
- Dry blending into powdered cleaner formulations
- Sites with no tank capacity or no containment for liquid caustic
- Intermittent use, where a liquid tank would sit unused between campaigns
Handling and storage
Solid caustic is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the air and will cake in a bag left open. Keep containers sealed and store dry.
Dissolution is strongly exothermic. Add beads to water slowly with agitation; never add water to beads. A dissolving vessel can reach boiling if the addition rate is not controlled.
Use chemical splash goggles and a face shield. Dry caustic on damp skin generates heat as it dissolves, which is why a dust exposure that seems minor can still cause a burn.
