Typical uses

  • Fluoride precipitation in industrial wastewater treatment
  • Hardness and calcium adjustment in process water
  • Dust control on unpaved surfaces
  • Concrete set acceleration
  • Brine for refrigeration systems
  • Oilfield completion fluids

Handling

Dissolution of the solid form is strongly exothermic — the reverse of most salts, and enough to surprise someone expecting it to be endothermic. The solution form avoids this entirely, which is one reason most industrial users buy it liquid.

Corrosive to carbon steel over time despite a benign hazard classification. Use HDPE, FRP, or 316 stainless for anything with a service life expectation.

Documents

Safety data sheets and certificates are available to account holders. Request one below and we send it the same business day — or ask us to attach documents to every shipment automatically so you are not requesting them one at a time.

Section 2 covers the hazards, Section 8 the protective equipment actually required, and Section 10 what this must not be stored next to. Storage incompatibility is the single most common cause of serious chemical incidents. How to read an SDS
