- acid zinc brightener, zinc plating additive, bright zinc, chloride zinc
A brightener and carrier system for acid chloride zinc plating, supplied as a concentrate for rack and barrel operations.
Deposit characteristics
- Bright, ductile deposits from low to high current density
- Good coverage in recessed areas
- Deposit accepts trivalent and hexavalent passivates without additional activation
- Low internal stress, so parts that will be formed after plating do not crack
Bath control
Plating chemistry lives or dies on analysis. Zinc metal, chloride, boric acid, and pH all need regular titration, and brightener is added by ampere-hour consumption rather than by eye.
We support customers running this bath with periodic analysis in our Arleta laboratory — send a sample, get results and a recommended addition schedule. That service is the reason most of our plating customers stay with us, more than the chemistry itself.
Troubleshooting
If you are getting dullness in the low current density area, burning at high current density, or blistering, call before you dump the tank. Most of those are correctable by analysis and adjustment, and a tank dump is an expensive way to fix a problem that was a chloride imbalance.
Documents
Safety data sheets and certificates are available to account holders. Request one below and we send it the same business day — or ask us to attach documents to every shipment automatically so you are not requesting them one at a time.

Section 2 covers the hazards, Section 8 the protective equipment actually required, and Section 10 what this must not be stored next to. Storage incompatibility is the single most common cause of serious chemical incidents. How to read an SDS
