- Freeze protection where ethylene glycol is prohibited

Propylene or ethylene
Ethylene glycol transfers heat somewhat better and costs less. Propylene glycol is far less toxic and is the required choice anywhere a leak could reach food, potable water, or people — which is most food plants, most breweries, and any HVAC loop in an occupied building.
Where the code or the customer specification allows either, the cost difference rarely justifies the risk. Where it does not allow either, the specification decides.
Inhibited or uninhibited
Glycol supplied plain will not protect a metal loop from corrosion. Inhibited grades carry a corrosion inhibitor package and a dye for leak detection. Tell us which your system needs — an uninhibited fill in a steel system is a slow, expensive mistake.
