Propylene glycol is far less toxic and is the required choice anywhere a leak could reach food, potable water, or people \u2014 which is most food plants, most breweries, and any HVAC loop in an occupied building.<\/p>\n<p>Where the code or the customer specification allows either, the cost difference rarely justifies the risk. Where it does not allow either, the specification decides.<\/p>\n<h2>Inhibited or uninhibited<\/h2>\n<p>Glycol supplied plain will not protect a metal loop from corrosion. Inhibited grades carry a corrosion inhibitor package and a dye for leak detection.
