Metabolism produces formic acid, which causes metabolic acidosis and permanent blindness. Symptoms are frequently delayed by hours, which means an exposed worker can feel fine and still need urgent treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Skin absorption is a genuine exposure route, not a theoretical one. Glove selection matters \u2014 many common glove materials are permeated quickly by methanol.<\/p>\n<p>Any suspected exposure warrants immediate medical attention with the safety data sheet in hand. Do not wait for symptoms.<\/p>\n<h2>Fire<\/h2>\n<p>Flash point around 11&nbsp;\u00b0C (52&nbsp;\u00b0F). Methanol burns with a flame that is nearly invisible in daylight \u2014 a fact that has caused serious injuries to people who walked into a fire they could not see.
